Thread Summary

The forum thread explores the concept of enhancing forum discussions by allowing users to focus on specific sections of an image for detailed analysis, rather than engaging in lengthy general discussions. Some users advocate for breaking down the image to facilitate better analysis, while others argue for analyzing the image as a whole for improved pattern recognition. Suggestions include creating a map for users to share explored locations and using a wiki for easier access to information. Overall, the discussion aims to improve the forum layout to promote more organized and productive discussions about the image.

It would be great if we could create a forum that has the picture of an Image and each section (I.e. A-3 , F-7) you could click and a forum would pop up to discuss that particular section, what they think it means, etc. I’m new here, but it seems like absolute madness to go through 60+ pages of general discussion. I feel like a lot of great ideas get lost in the text. IDK, just an idea. Happy Hunting.

I have lost what little sanity I had reading 60+ pages of people brainstorming to figure out what we already know. That said, I strongly feel that truncating each element of the picture and relegating it to its own thread would increase the number of posts a newcomer has to read by a factor of 10-200x. The great thing about the human brain, what separates us from other species, is that we can be a presented with an amalgamation of seemingly random things, and see a pattern. It's this pattern that has led to solves, this "oh I see how Preiss' brain regarded all this stuff and made a logical order out of this," that has led to both solves. Not "we scrutinized this one piece and figured out where it might go." Analysing more elements at once leads to forming a more consistent pattern

Although I agree that we need the picture in its entirety, it seems it would be easy if we are fixated or curious about a particular part of the image to be able to easly access certain parts.

I dunno. This may be a good idea. Doghousereiley and I were talking awhile back about making a map where people could submit spots they have dug... I started working on it but havent finished it. This might be a good companion.
