Thread Summary
The forum discussion centers on a treasure hunt related to a book, with users analyzing locations and potential clues in the search for a casque in Tomball, Houston. The Guardian's observation of a location outside Houston sparks interest, leading to speculation about the treasure's whereabouts. JoshCornell and Mister EZ express skepticism but acknowledge the importance of the observation. The Guardian later visits the location and concludes the treasure is not there, prompting speculation about the possibility of a replica or similar object being the true marker. gManTexas responds to this idea. Users also discuss the potential of the casque being in Hermann Park, with a mention of Depot Plaza and the Glassell School's second location near the park. The debate includes the significance of various locations and markers, emphasizing the importance of following clues closely to accurately locate the casque.

I keep thinking about how the two successful digs just knew that “It’s here” when they came across the spot. I actually started getting that feeling the other day, but didn’t know why. I was sitting in my car, about to leave, when I started getting that feeling. As I started pulling out, I noticed a train engine on short tracks in a park with fountains, with an active train track passing next to it. I didn’t get to look around, but this looked like a definite search area.
Now, here’s the issue: The park is actually outside of Houston, but is in Harris County, and was w

It’s not a town I’ve ever been in more than a few hours, but I’ve been there enough to know it’s pretty much the same since the book came out. If it’s there, and the place is old enough (and I can’t find any dates except for a gazebo added in 2009), I think it’s worh looking at.

its not there...but you have picked up on something key...

Probably not, but I may find something that gives me new insight.

Depends on how far outside 'waaaay' outside it was....he probably knew it wasn't Houston.
(But, maybe not. Sometimes it's hard to see where Chicago ends and surrounding 'burbs begin...)

Houston was mostly inside the 610 Loop, long before Beltway 8 was even conceived. But the bigger airport (Intercontinental) is also well outside the loop, and some people are still fooled, today.

I finally got out to the location I was talking about, Depot Plaza in Tomball, a town so far out of Houston it’s been nicknamed South Dallas.
First, the casque is definitely not there. I discovered it was founded in 2008, and the similarities I saw are only superficial. There’s a railroad history museum built like a train, but it was closed while I was there.
But it gave me a new idea: What if BP wasn’t trying for an actual object in the image, but something similar, or a replica?
Is it possible there was a replica of the 982 train somewhere in Houston at the time, and that was what he was trying to lead us to?

How can we rationally think this? There are specific clues in the verse and image that place us in Hermann Park. Even BP suggested that it was in Hermann Park. Why fight this? It is hard enough to locate a casque in the correct spot.

I never said the casque isn’t in HP. I just suggested the SP982, or possibly something else, may have had a similar object BP used as a waymarker. That marker may not have been in the park, but it would have been nearby.

Add that I may have just made a find. The Glassell School has a second location at 2450 Holcolmbe, in the same building as the Texas Medical Center, no more than a mile southeast of HP. The problem is that I can’t find how long it’s been there, how big it is, or if it even offers classes, there. It may just be for exhibits.
“Fortress borth/Cold as glass” obviously refers to the Glassell main campus. Could “Friendship south” be leading us to this other site if it was around in 1981?
