Thread Summary

Omega Ra suggests that a verse in a text may refer to a location near Harlequin Park instead of Jackson Square, pointing out details like the number of trees and streets in the area that align with the verse's descriptions. They mention specific gemstone-themed street names and the shape of the area resembling an arch. Kalessin advises considering historical context when interpreting landscape references, emphasizing the importance of verifying details from 1982. Omega Ra counters by noting that the mature trees in satellite photos support their interpretation. The discussion revolves around interpreting clues in the text to pinpoint a specific location accurately.

Omega Ra

I know everyone thinks verse 2 refers to jackson square, and it does seem so. But looking at the verse the where jewels abound seems to point up by harlequin park. Also the in the middle of 21...there seem to be 21 trees ringing the park...and 3 in the middle for the 3 stand watch. the Gnomes admire (Opal) and the Fays Delight (turquoise) namesakes meeting near this site...There is a Turquoise street and an Opal street right there. Plus if you look at the first fairies (garnet) and right after the lowland gnomes they mention the Russian (I am assuming gnomes) the stone is Topaz...also two streets that intersect nearby... Plus the shape of the area there is a half-circular section leading into that section of town that looks like the arch above preservation. Now I know the coords of Jackson sqaure are 29, 90 and this area is 30, 90...but a lot fits...

Any time you're referencing things in the landscape, you have to find references for things like the number and placement of trees that were true in 1982.

Omega Ra

Well the trees in the satellite photo look like mature trees, so could still be the case.
