Thread Summary
The forum discussion revolves around a treasure hunt puzzle in Milwaukee that involves deciphering clues related to various landmarks and symbols. Participants like JoshCornell, MrBackstop, and Spiritr are actively engaged in analyzing images and discussing potential solutions. The clues reference specific buildings, historical figures, and geographical elements in Milwaukee, sparking debates and disagreements about interpretations. The conversation also involves discussions about the significance of different routes, landmarks, and phrases in solving the puzzle. Despite some tensions and misunderstandings, forum members collaborate to decode the clues and share insights in an effort to crack the mystery and locate the treasure, potentially at Marquette University campus.

You're a fucking idiot.
JoshCornell
? im not sure why im a fucking idiot...i think Preiss definitely saw this...its remarkably similar to the one in the hotel monteleone...really, the only difference between this clock and the one in the new orleans image is the hands on the clock, otherwise, its just like the one in the image...
this one was the ruse...but he wanted you to find it...wouldnt even be surprised if clock was made by same person as in new orleans!
JoshCornell
this one even has roman numerals, yet with a IIII instead of an IV, while the monteleone one uses #'s...
JoshCornell
milwaukee has the coolest architecture of any of the cities ive been to yet!!!
this town is so damn beautiful.

Maybe you're right Josh. Some random grandfather clock in a completely different city is important. Maybe you can take a photo of a "Jap" in Toledo and connect it to San Francisco.
P.S. Absolutely no offense to anyone of Japanese or Asian descent with this comment. Only pointing out Josh's racist bullshit.

The term is offensive, but it is important to note that unlike others, Josh never used it on this forum. And while his explanation for why he used it on another forum was inelegant, it was not insincere in as much as to the best of my knowledge, he does not continue to shorten the word "Japanese" for the sake of expediency. A reasonable person would have accepted his explanation and that should have been the end to this contrived issue.
JoshCornell
maltedfalcon wrote::

it actually wasnt offensive when i said it...unless the garden was offended...poor poor garden...
JoshCornell
@gman...the water tower is made of niagara limestone, i dont mean to offend you, but that specifically tells us its not the stone were looking for...no?
JoshCornell
i dug last night at the tree at locust st and lake st, inside the A shape of the path (wonderstone is from SOUTH AFRICA, as opposed to the North Point Water Tower, which is made of Niagara Limestone).
i do have a secondary reading of the lake park path, which would take you South from the position where Ravine Rd meets Lincoln Memorial Drive...if you continue down this way you pass under three bridges, and there is clearly a bridge aspect of the puzzle here.
my released solution, used the three exit paths of the locust trail to get to the oak leaf trail by lake and locust, where you can see the A-shape of the path.
my issue here is two things: a) the word ON...obviously the A is not ON the tree located there...and b)its literally right at the foot of the last ancient (prehistoric) burial mound left in milwaukee lol...obvs Preiss wanted to take us there (100%)...but im questioning whether he's using its location to tell us its not there...or whether its just far enough away to be considered a viable location (clearly digging has been done within the triangle in the A, as there is a lightpole located there)...so im on the fence...i dont think its in lincoln park, which you would get to via the silently playing clue, by following the path youd take to get to the sculpture garden that contains the bremen city musicians statue (went along bremen st and it brought me to the yellow star (as seen in the middle of the flower). i used the pabst theatre (a much weaker interpretation imo) to go S through lake park.
its possible you are actually supposed to continue S along Lincoln Memorial Parkway, pass under the three bridges...and over or along two more...with the treasure being located at the foot of said bridge...
JoshCornell
this takes you past the old Smith mansion (now museum of the decorative arts), where you would need to go to have the advertising theme introduced...here you also learn about adler (architect of the building) and the guy who did all the badass wrought iron work. it also introduces the italian theme i used to make an interpretation of the on a proud tall fifth clue (which im questioning is the primary interpretation). there is a stairway with damn near 92 steps (was closed off and i couldnt get a proper count)...somewhere between 86 and 96 steps, depending on which steps you include.
JoshCornell
i also have the wisconsin club route detailed up to appell joyce. still working on that...
JoshCornell
is west allis considered milwaukee? if so, there is a 3rd 3 story mitchell building...meadowmare...
JoshCornell
3 stories of mitchell could also refer to the lives of alexander john and billy (grandfather son and grandson)...though, this is likely the secondary interpretation.
as "a distance in time" refers to looking at history in retrospect, from a position down the road...in that, we can only understand the context of history from a future point in time...this, on one hand, tells us that the "three who lived there" are Johnston, Holton, and Merrill...as you would start there, then walk downer to kenwood (two readings of beating of the world), past Mitchell Hall...cause youd view the 3 stories of mitchell AS you walk the beating of the world...
so, this on one hand grounds us at the history dept which is "down the road" from Mitchell Hall...
JoshCornell
start at Johnston specifically, cause thats where the history dept is located at UWM.
JoshCornell
anyways, im off to boston now...where i have the spot located the best, hence why i left it for last (also seems one of the hardest to me)...although i guess that doesnt mean anything "at a distance in time" lol...
JoshCornell
btw, the whole wonderstone thing directs you to cream city brick...have fun!

The black thing on the right side of Image 10 is an edge of one of the 4 corner towers on the North Point Water Tower. And of course the tower in the middle makes a total of 5 on top.
JoshCornell
fifth of what on top!?
i found the upside down one in the mountain, its Marquette Hall.
JoshCornell
im thinking the "letter from a country" is one of the letters (washington one, specifically) on the horse guy monument outside of washington park.

4 corner towers plus the main tower is a proud tall 5th
JoshCornell
on north point?

North Point Water Tower
JoshCornell
are you referring to ones on top or on the bottom? and if the top is the proud tall fifth (and all five are on the water tower)...how does Preiss expect us to see the letter?
JoshCornell
if its on a building...its gotta be a coat of arms...if its on a bridge...the name is usually on the side...but it seems most likely to be on a coat of arms...
Spiritr
exactly how many of those Lion statues were on Oak Leaf Trial? 8?
JoshCornell
i actually didnt walk over that bridge when i was there lol...there are 24 lion heads on the grand staircase at the wisconsin club though. i tried to get a tour, but the manager never got back to me before i left.
JoshCornell
the hooded character i believe comes from the reliefs on Johnston Hall...also, you can find them on the school on wisconsin. i dont think its assisi...
Spiritr
reason I asked because I was watching the Expedition Unknown, and I think he already have figured out the Verse, yet he just randomly pick one Lion to dig?
JoshCornell
spoke with renner many times, he has no idea what hes doing. also, they did not identify the lions, pretty sure someone else did that on here, maybe. renner is on here so he sees whats going on.
Spiritr
i would probe/poke around them if I got chance to visit Mwk

JoshCornell wrote::

The letter is on the tower just below the 5 towers.
JoshCornell
yep youre right, which means i followed the red herring to the burial mound (which i figured once i saw the burial mound there lol)...the pass three would be bridges (in line with the overarching bridge theme of the puzzle), unfortunately its (the tower) under construction right now...
this would be the complete solution:
the alternate reading of the proud tall fifth clue is a musical reading via an italian (italian theme intro'd at smith mansion) musician and publication from boston...this gives us a 3:2 ratio (one two three step one two step), which you use to get to the treasure.
first three steps give us our starting location, and first action (hartford and downer at downer college).
at a distance in time is an allusion that is used to tell us that history can only be understood in retrospect; context can only be derived after a period of time has passed...this takes us to the history dept at UWM in holton hall.
4th and fifth steps get us to our next location...two blocks away at downer and kenwood (passing mitchell hall on the way).
fifth sixth and seventh clue take us to marietta which is 4 blocks from downer and kenwood (walking now along kenwood)...the logic here is that a distance in space is so large that it is measured with integers...because our number is two...we use 2 squared...to get 4...4 blocks.
silently playing directs us to move south (toward pabst theatre).
step on nature cast in copper gives us lake park, path to pabst takes us along lincoln in combination with latter clue.
next three tell us to go to grand staircase (previously alluded to when we are taken to the wisconsin club on wisconsin ave via the cape/awnings (similar to ones on pabst mansion down the street, alluding to pabst theatre being the silently playing clue)).
reach, tells us we have reached a turning point and must cross the lake park footbridge and turn to follow the stairs down to the locust trail.
next two clues direct us to the culvert under the bridge where locust trail meets ravine rd.
we turn around and walk the 100 paces along the locust trail to where ravine rd meets lincoln memorial drive (on oak leaf trail pathway)...there was a birch likely by the old well that people call the millstone. (using next three clues)
pass three (bridges) staying west, to a letter from the country...which i assume is a letter on a plaque on a statue like on the german statue outside washington park. (note: youll have to climb the grand staircase for a second time!!! hence why there are two clues alluding to the staircase, implying we must climb it twice)
clues 19-21 tell us we must go to the water tower, and look for the letter S or A (as wonderstone is from south africa...when we get there we see the sign about it being niagara limestone, but if we look this up its from wauwatusa (alluded to by the cream city bricks seen in the collar of the character)).
final two clues give us location to dig at S foot of water tower.
JoshCornell
gman, if you want to meet up ill dig with you

I'll be making it to

I too believe marquette university campus is the location of the casque for image three.
Cow head of armor = reference to Wisconsin. Wisconsin Ave also runs across Marquette.
Armor and pose of armor = reference to Joan of Arc. Armor (self-evident) and pose for being burned at stake. And that cross brace on left arm, when turned upside down matches part of the paths on campus (see image link at bottom of this post)
Plumb bob image = tool of surveyors. Surveyor benchmark on campus at N 43° 02.233 W 087° 55.667 (
https://s3.amazonaws.com/gs-geo-images/ ... 90b422.jpg
)
"Education and Justice" = College of Education and University Law School.
"At Stone Wall's door" = reference to Gen. Stonewall Jackson. ROTC building on campus.
"An object of Twain's attention" = St. Joan of Arc chapel on campus moved over from France, stone-by-stone from 1400's.
"Sounds from the sky" = reference to the iconic Gesu Church (which has a clock on the east side of the right tower)
cross image in lower left of image = reference to Fr. Jaques Marquette who is usually depicted holding a crucifix.
Armor nostril = see image on the link below
(and an interesting sidenote... the location of the jewel on the armor would be approximately where the Joan of Arc chapel is on the Marquette University campus map)
Here is also an image showing correlations of items on the armor design to the layout to the marquette campus - >

1) There actually *is* a thread for image 3....it fell to page 4 of the forum.
2) Saying, "
I *too* believe marquette university campus is the location of the casque for image three.
" implies that somebody *else* thinks it's there....and, that they think that image 3 points to anywhere in Wisconsin. Somebody in this thread? Elsewhere? (Haven't ever seen anybody suggest that. Or, that verse 7 matches up with image 3...leading to a spot in Wisconsin.)
3) So, the outline of Roanoke Island, located on the side of the window in image 3 (lower right of the window, looking at the image) isn't really there? Or, it's a red herring?

Well, if you are so certain that it's in Roanoke, why haven't you found it? Have you found any one them?
In any event, Milwaukee can be as logical a choice as Roanoke. If you consider that the two casques that have been found were in Chicago and in Cleveland, Milwaukee is a stop along the drive, especially being close to Chicago. Just map the drive.
Sure, I may be wrong but at least I'm not going to automatically piss on someone else's thought as to where something may or may not be.

It's cool to develop any location idea. Usually it only gets so far before our own realization that theres less and less quality justification for that particular premise.
As far as images go, Ceveland, Chicago were well justified based on strong visual connections. Image 10 is a dead on match for
Milwaukee
's City Hall. Image 2 for the Charleston peninsula shape. Image 3 for it's Roanoke shape. Image 7 for Louis Armsteong. The other images are less determined for their visual iconifications.
Those verses are what get us all tied up in knots...
Good luck and keep sharing your best ideas.

FWIW, when I joined this forum, there were a lot of old timers here. Many have disappeared because of the influx of new users. The new users came because of Expedition Unknown, myself included. However, when I found this board, I took the time to read through many of the threads to see what progress had been made and I asked questions. Even while treading lightly, I still got knocked down for theories. Rather than getting mad at this, I reflected on some of my thoughts and approaches.
What I have observed since the summertime is many people signing up and spewing mental streams of consciousness, without having studied anything, much less having read the book itself. One of the problems here is that anyone can sign up and create new threads, and there are no local moderators. If I could change a few things, new users would have to make at least 100 posts before starting a new thread, and there would be moderators that could delete posts and/or threads.
I understand what it is to be excited and want to post stuff, heck I'm guilty of that myself. I have even bumped heads with people, that is inevitable, but getting super defensive after your first or second (or 20th) post is childish. Take the criticism, even if it is harsh, and learn from it.
This forum is by far the best archive and research utility for The Secret. Twelve.org, Facebook, etc. pale in comparison. If you want to learn, then use this resource. If you want to fly by post, then this probably is not the place for you.
Lastly, the larger issue here is that this is supposed to be fun. Don't be the person that puts the F U in fun.

No, you maybe misunderstood. New users could post into existing threads, just not create a bunch of new threads until they have been here for a bit.

having Moderators to restrict others for posting is something else, believe me when I said I fully understand. I've been foruming for over 15 years globally, even the dark web. I know how things work.
Put it this way, why do you think Mark Parry being the only administrator for this board? Of all the new and cool functions of 3.2.3, how come we don't get to have any of those fun?
The Secret is just another subforum of Quest4Treasure, international forums are very hard to run incase you don't know, unless it's Porn.
And let's be honest, of the past 18 years this board only have 346 topics and 3,6000 posts. You see how small crowded we actually are?

I hear you, and I fully believe in free speech, however, do you think we should just allow people and sometimes trolls run roughshod all over the place? I don't really see it as restrictions when the bulk of the small community agrees that a certain person or series of posts are inappropriate, to flag or moderate the content. I mean hell, this is a treasure hunt, not dark web material or discussing how to break laws. There should be a certain bar that is set.
Let's think about examples of free speech. You have free speech at a sporting event, a political rally, at your holiday dinner table (mostly, lol), in a library...
Each one has a different level of decorum and behavior. This is what I'm getting at.

1) the book and interest in it was in no danger of dying.
2) While the TV show raised awareness, It caused many more problems than it helped.
3) in the past we could easily work with groundskeepers, to get permission to dig, search probe, more than likely they loved to actually help dig.
4) Now most places require permits and are soon to start charging for them if they have not already.
5) The large number of illegal diggers, (inspired by the TV show) is ruining the hunt for everybody.
Basically New Orleans, Milwaukee, probably soon St. Augustine & New York are now for all intents and purposes off limits to digging...
So... Thanks Josh.

Okay, I'd love to discuss this matter with you guys, and I'm glad we can hold a conversation like this, all I'm trying to do is providing an opening for persuasions, not arguments.
gMan, I totally agreed with you. But what's wrong with trolling? A successful troll often brighten up the entire page. Flaming, on the other hand, is unacceptable. Perhaps that's what you're referring.
Let's face it, it's unavoidable, not even Google, Facebook, or Twitter could avoid, you think we could? Also, there are things to consider, for example, disparity in laws and protocols, it's a .co.uk network we're using here. Maintenance and fees, a stable, mobile friendly, and unrestricted platform with all the functions you need would cost about ~$200/yr. Bandwidth would cost about ~$200/mo. based on the current traffics with rooms for more. That's what Mark Parry did for the past 18+ yrs, for a space me and you to gather and find treasures. Without any ads and sponsors.
Another possible choice are social networks, Facebook, Skype...etc. It's just a matter of personal preference of which social networks you're on, the downside...umm, I think it lacks the sense of belongings. And I can't log in while at work like what I'm doing right now
And Matt, with all due respect, you definitely have your points there. Reasonable and soundly based. Perhaps I've only dig once, and the park staff and ranger were pretty nice and easy going. I never get to experience all the troubles.
When I said keeping the book alive, I didn't mean it's dying, it's more like bringing new blood into the community.
Now, let say somebody found the 3rd cask right now, what do you think is gonna happen? Unlike 2004, I'm sure you know it's gonna go viral. So does that mean it's a bad thing if someone really did found one?

To Malted's point, the illegal digging is mostly, at least I hope so, being done by people outside of the forum. Most people here are here to discuss and maybe figure out these puzzles. Expedition Unknown is to thank for that, both good and bad.
What is astonishing is that we are not talking about a large prize. Each gem is worth on average $833 US Dollars. It really seems hardly worth it to get worked up over that.

That might be the case, in 1982. After all these years, you can not use value to determine what it worth anymore, I don't believe anyone will sell it nor anyone will buy it, it worth $0.00. BUT what you're holding is a golden trophy that proves you've outsmarted everyone else, the sense of accomplishment and the experience are invaluable and priceless!
it reminds me of "

Gemstones are gemstones. The prices have been relatively stable in all this time.
I agree, really at this point I think that the people that are committed to this hunt are after the casques and the satisfaction of pulling one out of the ground.

Yes exactly you had to involve the park staff and a ranger, all of whom were being paid by the city to deal with you.
over time inevitably that cost will be transferred to the one who wants to dig.
Prior to the TV show I could call the groundskeeper and let them know where I wanted to dig.
on occasion they would stop by and say hi.

Actually for many many years it has not been about the Gem at all.
if so interest would have fallen off after BP passed away and for the several years no one knew if anybody had the gems any more.
instead the hunt plodded on...

You are probably right, but my wife

wants to make a piece of jewelry using one of the gemstones.
While it would be super cool, I bet the amount of money you spend trying to retrieve a casque and actually getting the gemstone, you could make your wife several pieces of jewelry. But I agree, it would be a great conversation piece.

I've been around...just not posting much lately. To be honest, its kind of sad what these forums have become.
