Oregonian mentioned something about Roman company that made them.

And something about BP moonlighted as a sundial salesman?!

Of course that’s what those bubbles (balls to you) mean. Because this wasn’t clear enough, Preiss had Palencar add that piece of brilliance to enhance the puzzle.

Right, but you forget there are a million ways to figure out the cities...
Lat/Long
Sports logos
Maps
Buildings
Landmarks
Quotes
Paintings
Rebuses
blah blah blah

Why make a picture of a "city on broad shoulders" that has a windmill, when we already had lat/long, a map, sports logo, landmarks, etc.?
Why make a picture of a "forest city," when we already had lat/long, a map, landmarks, buildings, polaroids of parks features, etc.?

What's/who's to say this isn't just another way to know the city connected with this image is Roanoke/Outer Banks?

There's a million clues to find a city, something for everybody to find. This is what was supposed to make the book take off... everybody knowing the cities. Unfortunately, 20 years after publication, people were still driving to Philadelphia. Nearly forty and Pittsburgh is in play.

Finding the cities was supposed to be and is easy. It's knowing what to do once you get there that is hard.

Who am I kidding... Hush baby — I don't know a thing. It ain't what you got, It's what you can get away with.

Dang 421, you run at 9000 RPM constantly! Foot off the gas bro!

This key looks like one of those old drinking fountains.

I always liked the tip of that key as the wright brothers monument as viewed from a distance. Especially given it's location in the painting when oriented to the roanoke island shape.

It does have resemblance eventhough the base is oversize and there's a horizontal cross on top.

No disagreement with anything stated here. I was simply making a distinction between a clue and shit. Wasn’t attempting to distinguish the importance of said clue/shit either. It’s very possible that I just worded it incorrectly. My bad.
