Also I wanna thank burnstyle for the photo just in case I feel like being a dick and forwarding it to county as a BOLO for a crazy man digging for 'treasure'. Nazis? How ignorant are you? As soon as you walk into white point gardens, from any entrance, there are these huge signs that say they will prosecute you for digging or using a metal detector. Charleston is serious about that shit. Maybe more so than st Aug.

Unknown: i roll in at 830 am. Charleston is a beautiful city. I hope you find what you're looking for. Enjoy.

Unknown: know any places to eat breakfast with vegan options? The last time I was there I ate BBQ, and the time before that it was steak, so I'm probably not the best person to ask. A quick Google search, however, suggests that you should have no problem finding good places to eat. Good luck.

Macfos

Downtown there is "another broken egg cafe"... then there are jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches at the gas station. The vegan hippie thing is not alive and well in Charleston. Most cling to bibles and guns. Just make sure your manners are in check. This is the original old south. We treat everyone with respect unless you ass out. Then the consequences begin. Hope to meet up with you Josh. Best regards, Mac

I asked around - nobody says they did it but someone brought up a good point If you went to city hall , asked for permission and got denied... Then chances are City hall reported you just in case... makes more sense than a picture, they would have had your exact description today.

burnstyle

I can't honestly see ANYONE who is a veteran here doing that. Dig sites and times get shared pretty regularly and no one else has had this problem in the past.

Don't dig in SF without permission. That being said, getting permission is easy, just plan ahead.

How fucking gullible do you think we all are? Do you not understand that it can take up to MONTHS to get permission to dig somewhere in Charleston - and that's with lots of academic support, documentation, back-and-forth discussions. But nooooooooooooooo, some homeless bum walked up the marble steps to the GREAT CITY HALL where they were welcomed with open arms and got permission. Go back to Canada before you end up with a felony, asshole. Charleston isn't exactly a big city, or even a city at all really. I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to just walk in and ask questions there....and this is coming from someone who deals with city hall for work...in a city city. Also, why is he homeless? I think we are all a little homeless when we travel....

This is a good point, me too, but every thing I come up with in SF I run through the filter of the known and unknown casques, I.e if I say this is a clue in SF would something similar show up as a clue in chicago or cleveland or If I say I will get from point a to point b in SF how does the current ideas in Charleston, ST Augustine or Boston reflect on that idea...

forest_blight

He knows because 1.5 ft is "...at a depth of no more than three to three and one-half feet" (The Secret, p. 219). Seriously Josh, I would dig deeper than 1.5 feet. It's easier to hide from cops in a 3-ft hole than a 1.5-ft hole. That does raise a point though - wouldn't that wording imply that at least one of the casques is buried about 3 feet deep? That's pretty deep and hard to dig, unless the ground is extremely soft.

That's pretty deep and hard to dig, unless the ground is extremely soft. It does imply that, and that brings up the question did he mean the top, middle or bottom was at 3-1/2 feet? It is possible since the casque vaults are 7 inches tall, at one point he dug a 4 foot hole and dropped the casque in. imagine having the correct solution and being right on top of it and missing it by 6 inches... Its why I always dig to 4 feet unless I hit a physical limit.

Erpobdelliforme

Unknown: That's pretty deep and hard to dig, unless the ground is extremely soft. Absent a lot of roots, rocks, and other obstructions, which Preiss could have ruled out by probing first, I estimate it would have taken him no more than 10 minutes to bury a casque, start to finish, no matter the soil conditions. Remember, he knew exactly where he wanted the hole to be, and had all day (and night if necessary) to accomplish what is essentially a very simple task with the right tools. Having said that, most of the holes I've dug have been in the 2-2.5 depth range, but I always probe the bottom and sides and explore any additional hits I get.

Okay, that's it for me as well. I have avoided engaging with Josh, but now I'm taking the further step of adding him to my squelch list so I won't have to read this juvenile misogyny piled on top of his usual useless posts. If anyone does have moderator status, I encourage you to ban him. For the rest of you, please stop replying to his posts and squelch him if you can't stop yourselves from feeding the troll. The schadenfreude of his picaresque travesty of a casque tour has lost its charm. If you're wondering how it will all turn out, I foresee one of these possible endgames: 1) "The real treasure was back home all along" 2) "The physical casques are just more red herrings. The real solutions point to completely different locations, known only to me!" 3) A relative creates an account and posts here to tell us Josh is getting the help he needs and asks us to please not indulge his fantasy life if he relapses and gets internet access once more

Macfos

Actually that was not my post. It is from another member you offended. But your post was the reason I decided not to meet you. Regards, Mac

Woah. Holy shit, I didn't pay attention to his comment. Dude, I could tell you fell somewhere on the spectrum, thats why I gave you some slack. When you interupted presentations at the foy, pushing people out of the way and talking over presenters so you could explain your theories while pointing your camera at some random sign. Not once, but twice. I get it. You have to touch wood. Anything wood. Trees, fences, lamposts, poles that look wooden but are actually concrete... Its your thing, I get it. But do you have to push tourists out of your way to do it? Do you have to shove yourself in between a tourist couple just so you can get a shot of a map they were standing in front of? They didn't want to hear your theories about the puzzle, they didn't care that you knew everything. They were Asian Josh, they didn't give a shit. But after explaining to them how you knew everything about that map, they could tell how pissed you were when I asked you to point out where you were, and I told you you were pointing at the wrong place. "The casque is here" "Well josh, that's jacksonville, so..." I can't imagine what would cause someone to act the way you do, or say the things you say. You have to know Its wrong. You have to know that people aren't going to like you or respect you because of it. I hope you're ashamed of yourself. I hope you're sitting there tonight in your hostel, alone and ashamed. But we both know you aren't.

Goldengate wrote:: Dear Josh, Speaking as a husband and a father, if you ever spoke -- or wrote about my WiFE or KID that way, you'd better hope to become harder to find than a casque... because I would find you and dig a hole just for you. You went way over the line with that post. You should be ashamed. Isn't there a moderator or administrator here? Didn't someone kick him out before? Isn't it apparent by now that Josh is a VERY mentally disturbed person? Isn't it plain as day that his threads/ theories / "solves" are a complete bullS*** and frankly the content of his post above (among others) crossed every line in the book. I don't know if he's on the spectrum with asbergers, or something worse, but this forum has always been the platinum standard in discussions about The Secret. There are spirited disagreements, punking, virtual hair pulling, etc -- that's all fine, whatever -- it's always been in service of accomplishing a shared goal! But Josh is sick in his head... he's ONLY in his head. Josh's hunt, or quest or documentary, or whatever doesn't have anything to do with the The Secret... it's part of his illness and this forum unfortunately has become an echo chamber for his delusions. I'm all about disruptors, and am THRILLED by all the new energy brought in by newer hunters who recently found the book through Expedition Unknown -- but new members coming to these forums looking for real information, instead are finding find Josh's unhinged rants and delusions as if that's what this place is about. Does anyone here really think that's moving forward the discussion? If Josh was a Beautiful Mind and he was correct... even once... sure - okay, let's hear him out. But he's not. His solves, his 1x1 casque locations... they're all bs. We knew they were insane before, but we KNOW that now. He's 0-4 and his latest excuse was a police conspiracy. Come on, we're better than keeping something like that around. Counting Josh's two different accounts, he's been here a total of one month and has posted more than 600 TIMES. I think that says something. I implore the moderator / administrator -- it's time to mute Josh. He's not doing this forum... or frankly himself any good. He's a truly sick person - if this is his quest, let him have it, but don't let this excellent forum get held hostage by the delusional world that exists in his head any longer. We can move the discussion forward, we can disagree, but I think everyone knows keeping him here isn't healthy. Thank you for listening... and Josh, before you type in your knee-jerk reply, just please, think about reaching out for help. You're an adult, you know there's truth to this. You must have had your mental health addressed before... it's time to reach out to get yourself well -- go in, check your meds, get therapy -- you're flailing, unhinged. But even so, posts like the one you made above... if that's what you're all about even with a mental illness, that makes you a sad, lonely and repugnant person. I'm only 44 but I'll sound like an old man here by repeating it again: you should be ashamed of yourself.

Erpobdelliforme

Unknown: But we both know you aren't. So, you know the kid isn't right, but you just can't help piling on? Josh has issues. What's your excuse?
