I finally made time to finish the high-res project. I have a 62MB .zip file on my webserver: http://www.bunnyears.net/misc/secret.zip This contains all 12 images as JPGs, scanned at 300dpi--which means if you want to print them out, they should hold up just fine, and if you just want to view them on screen, they will be enormous and therefore good for detail work. If anybody else wants to mirror this monster, feel free. My band's not all that popular so it should not be a big problem.  🙂 (Edited 9/7/04--the link above is now valid. I moved the file from to bunnyears, where it will stay and is not in fear of being removed again!  😉 )

Thanks Dan!  I've gotten no work done today yet --- just looking at the pics!  Wow, nice job.  I'll comment, in the appropriate threads, on some things I've noticed in the pics that I didn't notice before.

wilhouse

Dan, are your scans gone? wilhouse

It looks like Dan's band had to remove that file from their server.  I recreated it *temporarily* on mine. [ edit: URL removed ] Please save targets to your local drive.  I'll leave this directory up for only a short time.  If Leftbrained tells me he's getting too much repeat traffic, i'll pull it all down.  There's only a few of us here, so it shouldn't be a problem for the next week or so. NOTE:  the "short time" has expired.  Please refer back to Dan's website for the original zip file.  I will be removing the image files from my server, due to bandwidth constraints.  Newcomers are encouraged to buy the book -- it's cheap and easily available thru online bookstores linked from Amazon.com

Dan Amrich

Oh, doesn't it just figure? Naturally, after leaving it up there for a few months, 48 hours after I needed to remove it, someone asked for it.  🙂 I ran out of server room but I've taken care of that--no worries. The link has been reinstated, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience.  Thanks for the backup Cat!

If anyone is looking for a good image viewer, and something that can really manipulate the image, go to jasc.com and download the trial version of paint shop pro 8.  It's big though. wilhouse

I fixed the Image 2/Image 3 problem and added a text file with the verses to the Zip archive. In other words, any friends you'd like to invite into the hunt now have one-stop shopping.  🙂 http://www.bunnyears.net/misc/secret.zip Dan

Would you mind adding the map from page 10 and anything else from the book (title page, cover, back cover, etc)  🙂 thanks!

KROMAGNUM

Thanks Dan! Great high res. scans! I have yet to locate a book at a reasonable cost. Having these scans is the next best thing to having the book.

keylime

Dan, Are the high-res files still available? I tried the links, and I keep getting an error message.  :-/ KROMAGNUM, Thanks for your response! BTW, I noticed in your comment above that you couldn't find the book at a reasonable price. Can I ask how unreasonable the prices you came across were? And where were they? I may contact them depending on the $$.

KROMAGNUM

Keylime, When I wrote that above, the only copy I could find anywhere was a copy being sold on Ebay. It sold for $160 something US dollars! Last week I found a used copy at this on-line bookstore after I did the Google search. http://www.alibris.com/ Price I paid:$6.44 with S&H for this fair grade used copy. Appears that the band's site isn't hosting the file. He may have taken it down because the bandwidth to download this large file and lot's of people downloading it will eat up bandwidth.Bandwidth= $. I can sent you the Hi-Res picture bundle that is in .zip It is large at 62MB.So emailing it to you is most likely out of the question. I can send it off to you an a CD-R. No charge.Really not a problem. Email me your addie and I'll have it off in the mail to you.

KROMAGNUM

Keylime, I mailed the CD-R to you this morning from the post office near my job. Valhalla, NY. So when you see that Valhalla postmark, you'll know it's from me.

keylime

Thanks! I'll keep my eye out for it. BTW, that's one heck of a hike for you!

KROMAGNUM

HEHE! It's too bad I don't have time to dig for treasure during the commute back & forth 😉

keylime

KROMAGNUM, Just wanted to let you know that I received the files--THANK YOU! It's been keeping me and my husband very busy. Keylime

Terribly sorry--I have moved servers (now it's my private server, same as what runs the Kit Williams site, and I have MUCH more space) and the file is located here: http://www.bunnyears.net/misc/secret.zip Sorry for the inconvenience!  I have been out of the loop for a while but I am hoping to get back into it shortly... And I will also try to add the stuff you asked for, like the map!  🙂

First post, I've just discovered all of this, so hi everyone! I'll put up an introduction elsewhere as soon as I find the right thread, but I wanted to go ahead and express my appreciation for you hosting the file Dan. It'll give me something to look at while I wait for my copy

Dan Amrich

It's been a while but I am pleased to report that this file is still at the address listed above and will continue to be until them pesky casques are found. Share and enjoy - send the link to a friend and get someone addicted.

How big are the images in the orignial book? Most of the details that are actual clues in the solved images (4 & 5) seem to be very large.  I think we can establish a "rule of thumb" that anything smaller than 0.XXX inches in the image is not important.  In order to do this, it would be great to know that Image 1 is roughly 3.5 by 6.7 inches in the original book. Thanks, AnotherDoth

nodon

they are 4 5/8" X 7 5/8"

AnotherDoth

Thanks nodon! I assume that means images 2-11 are 4 5/8 inches wide by  7 5/8" high. And images 1 and 12 are 7 5/8 inches high by something around 4 inches wide. Thanks, AnotherDoth

nodon

You are right - I remeasured because (a) I was too hasty and (b) I forgot all about #1 & 12. #1 & 12 = 2 7/8" W x 7 5/8" H There's a black outline around all of the pictures about 1/8" away from the pic.  Oddly, only one picture (Chicago, #5) violates the white space between picture and outline.  The guy's neck is painted to the outline.

I put new scans on https://12treasures.com Each .jpg is about 15MB, 3000x5000 res
