Lurking and thinking, I think I may have a few different interpretations to add to the discussion 1. Gnomes admire their creator, Charles Isham https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Isham 2. Fays delight- reference to LaFAYette 3. Their namesakes meeting near this sight, Lafayette St at St Charles, the left side of Gallier Hall where the boy image in the clock and upside down column are 4. Ballpark landmark- The hand may be the hand of the St Michael statue at St Patricks Church, a block from Lafayette Square 5. Stretching but, the eyes on the mask are similar to the Christ plate held by the same St Michael statue My speculation is that the green space to the left of Gallier Hall is the spot. Other people figured that much out through different means. I also speculate that the 2 numeric portions of V2 offer grid coordinates within the small green space at the corner of Gallier Hall, if someone can crack that code.

I hope someone continues this line of thought.

Have you heard the podcast where Burnstyle talks about digging that exact same spot (Gallier hall)? Turns out there are 21 holes flanking it for fences to be installed at mardi gras

Yeah, Mike, you're in for a treat! Enjoy! Don't click on "New Orleans" on the left column. Be sure to click on the episode 9. New Orleans on the right column for the full podcast.

Sounds like whatever was there has been destroyed by public works. Has anyone submitted a solution to the publisher?

Some of us could use a little clarification on this. After the bankruptcy, John Colby's BrickTower Press purchased and owns the rights to the book and the images. JJP has the original artworks but can not reproduce them. New publisher apparently has no knowledge of the dig sites so writing to them is futile. In the Expedition Unknown episode Josh implied that Byron's daughters have the jewels and they will honor the books promise if you send them the key since they don't know where the casks are buried. So the question is do any of the other writers and contributors, photographer know where they are buried? Do you have the current address to send the key to?

In the latest kindle version of The Secret, the chapter “the treasure” it seems that it has updated info with more current instructions “If you find a treasure casque: You may notify us by mail or email. The form below should be completed and returned to us with the key that is contained inside the casque. The publisher will use its best effort to locate the treasure jewels for you. (Byron Preiss was killed in an auto accident in 2005.) Your photo and story will appear in the next edition of The Secret. Let the publisher know if you are one of the two people who already unearthed the casques in 1984 and 2004. bricktower@ aol.com” If the podcast guy has or can acquire the shards of plexiglass and the casque, perhaps the sculptor can authenticate it. It might not get anyone the turquoise, but an authenticated casque shard and submitted solution might put this one to bed.

If you actually find the casque and Key, separating them would basically be criminal. rather than contact the publisher I would reach out to people at the podcast or on q4t, who would be able to facilitate you getting your gem.

Hey MF, Do you know if anyone has counted the number of trees along the Lafayette square parameters?

Shoot him a message and ask: Burnstyle is one of the most friendly and approachable people I've ever met.

Yes many people have including me, and the number I put out there was pointed out to me as being wrong. because trees had been removed. but I believe at one point I counted 21 but I was using google street view not necessiarily the best method. it was sooo long ago though I am not really sure what my count was.

Thanks Matt, I could count 17 old ones (thick trunk) that have remained. Question for local members: What is that square at the corner of the sidewalk lawn, between lamp post and large tree? https://tinyurl.com/ycxnw8bb https://tinyurl.com/ybgp768o
