The older version of google earth has an aerial photograph of the gardens from 1995. You can (or at least used to be able to) fade in and out of the 1995 photo and current day. When you do that, you can see that the alley/rows of the gardens has changed pretty dramatically over time.
I’m not trying to discount your observation, I’m just trying to share something that I considered a road block in my own Boston search.
I truly hope this leads to some discovery.

I am fairly certain that each of the 12 images contain several maps of each of the general areas within them. There are several maps disguised in each. The more narrowing down and specific the map layouts get within the picture, the closer you are to the treasure.

I tend to agree with you, although I have not studied each and every Image, so I cannot say for sure.

If you look at the Image threads (titled “Image 1,” “Image 2,” “Image 3,” etc.), you will see detailed discussions of all of the maps found in all of the Images.

All of the maps?? In every image? Has anyone said that in image 11 the map of the victory gardens layout is the shape of the woman’s hand opening the box in image 11. Or the the way the bird’s wings are shaped are the roads in that area? All I was saying with this post was that maps are a theme central to every image.

I am mentioning that if anyone has found maps in the images, it would be contained in the Image thread applicable to that picture. Naturally, if no one else has ever discovered a certain map, then it would not be there. Only the ones that have been found so far are in the Image threads. They are worth a read.

With all due respect Egbert, the forum could use a reorganization. I have been on various forums and bulletin boards for years, so I am somewhat enamored by how quaint this one is, but it could use an overhaul.
It is possible that some people, especially those who are younger, find it difficult to navigate and find info. This could be a turnoff and prevent people from sharing valuable thoughts. Are there administrators that can consolidate threads, move posts to the appropriate threads, create stickys, etc.?

If you’re going to make observations like this it would be really helpful if you could post up the image comparison. Otherwise it’s unlikely that anyone will even check TBH, because of the effort involved and the profusion of utterly daft theories on this forum.
(I’m not saying that’s one of them, though I’m looking at the image with a copy of this map and it’s not at all clear what you mean.)

I’m not sure everyone has the ability to post images, or has the wherewithal to hot-link images from a third party site.

It does take a bit of effort, agreed. But it only takes a minute to sign up to an image hosting site like
Imgur
. Scans of all the images are available
here
, you can screen-grab anything with Alt-PrtScn, and knock it into shape with
Gimp
.
Or you can just post up the observation. That might leave most people ignoring it or scratching their heads. But maybe I’m wrong.
(If it really was a close match with the Victory Gardens, that would be pretty significant, but I can’t see it. I previously wondered about the hand and a statue of Walsh at the Hatch Shell, though it’s not all that great.)

but it could use an overhaul.

As probably one of the few people who has read through every thread in this Forum, many several times, I couldn’t agree more. I can also say with a fair degree of certainty that it isn’t going to happen. Nor should it. The current chaos on the forum perfectly represents the lack of even the most elementary agreement on the puzzle and will continue unabated until we either achieve a breakthrough or until everyone loses interest and moves on. There is a third alternative I suppose, but the present state of the Wiki should caution against going down that road.
Personally, I don’t mind the chaos. It’s my opinion that the popular ideas will rise to the top, where they can be discussed, and those without merit will slowly sink into oblivion, just like they always have.

No offense to millennials, but people are so used to just being able to post pictures, like on FB, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. Doubt many people will go through the effort, however, as renovator so well put it, maybe only the really important stuff will be worth the effort and rise to the top.

I take your point; as I was typing that I wondered if the hunt could use an Instagram group if that’s a thing. It’s still an effort for me to write anything without the Underwood.

Lol.. the Underwood. That gave me a good laugh.
I remember my mom typing letters to the relatives at Christmas and being so amazed by the little white paper she would use to erase a typo. Of course she wasn’t using an Underwood at that time.
My thoughts are that the chaos on the board will subside and only a few of the new additions will remain committed. I agree that posting to FB and other sites makes things really easy for users and most younger folks are not used to these old style message boards. To me these are still fantastic and I would not trade them for the world. I grew up in the age of the early BBS systems, so these forums still fit me well.
I like keeping the discussions organized by Thread topic and have read through hundreds of pages of topics on the Image/Verse I am working on. Spraying the information into new topics just makes it harder to find the info. Even if the info does not turn out to be correct, it is still in a place where it can be digested with other thoughts and proven facts about the puzzles.
Just my 2 pennies.
Regards,
Mac

As it was, so shall it ever be. This puzzle eats its young. Especially the ones who don’t learn the relationship between humility and futility. They are usually the first to go.

Actually, I think the lid of the box is Beacon Street. The Paul Revere clue indicates that we should be looking for a beacon. The hinge of the top is at Kenmore Sq. If the lid goes to Massachusetts Ave, the relative “box” would enclose Fenway and the Back Bay Fens. The image on the box appears to be Boston University, which has an observatory, hence the space theme in the image that I mentioned in the Image 11 thread. The blue areas between Dolly Parton’s waist and the sash hanging down form the shape of the muddy river split by the off ramp at Charlesgate when viewed on the map.
It’s all coming together. I’m going to also post this into the Image 11 thread.
