That is a really tough line, isn’t it?
Best solution I’ve heard, while still far from perfect, is that there is a Croatoan tree in the play they put on, and it is longstanding tradition for all the actors to touch it before going on.

To give them credit, these newbies know how to put the secrecy back into The Secret. Theories posted over a decade ago are now hush-hush!

I vote yes.
My current belief is that the thing “last touched but first seen standing” is the mast of a sinking ship. People scramble up it as the boat goes down and are forced to let it go or drown. Once completely sunk, it is neither seen, nor touched.
