I think the bowling alley is just an interesting coincidence. As a practical matter, it is too far from the trail. I think 222 was a no-longer-existing art boutique on Sherbrooke near the art museum.

that would fit with the puzzle referencing the intersection of sherbrooke and peel as the beginning location…theres also the band the 222’s lol

Lane
Two twenty two
I broke this down from the Metric system and how it was shoved down our throats in the 70s in grade school. All the teachers ever talked about was how we Americans were going to have to convert to the Metric system. With this in mind I realized that 222 kilometers equals 138 miles.
Quebec Route 138 is also Rue Sherbrooke which runs all thru areas of Montreal and right down the middle of Olympic Park and Olympic Village. This is Lane Two twenty two in my solve. The clues in the Verse as well as the Image are on or very close to QR 138.
Thoughts? Additions?

dude that is lane 2-20…already noted that in my solve…the 138 brings you along sherbrooke to peel which is where the top square tells you to start for the bazillionth time…ive solved the whole top square, cept maybe one reference…its intense.

Let’s talk about Laurentian Lanes at 222 Montée de Liesse, Saint-Laurent. Who feels that this might be the reference in Verse 5?

I think I found a key word and I’d like some feedback.
Beneath the only standing member
Of a forest
To the south
White stone closest
At twelve paces
From the west side
The word “At” has to be important here. What I mean is that the word “”At” seems to definitively define the location. The verse does not say “Take twelve paces” or “Go twelve paces”. It is referring to a location, not an action. I say that because one of the definitions of “pace” is – ” a raised step or platform “.
My solve, as many here know, is in Montreal’s Olympic Park. What I just realized this week is that my spot is also next to 3 sets of 4 stairs on the South side of the Esplanade near the White Stone Olympic Rings wall.

As someone who is becoming more and more addicted to The Secret and to reading this message board, I can attest to one thing:
It’s frustrating as hell when you think you found a *perfect* location that completely fits the verse, and then you find out that the location wasn’t even there until 2006.
Bah.

Which is better, a photo of the casque itself or just a mud covered plastic box?  I’m wondering if like one of those unopened star wars action figures does it have more value?

Surprised there hasn’t been spirited discussion about this part of the translation. I think it’s possibly one of the most critical takeaways in terms of confirming or denying commonly held beliefs about verse to image pairings. It could confirm what we believe… or be a complete game changer.

I’ve been working on it. I’d share if I felt I had anything concrete at this point.

Verse 5 belongs with image 12 – new york. The wingless bird is the woman in the image – look at it – she is literally hovering or floating “ascending” above the water.

It is a good thought. However, you have that line describing the image and not something you would see along the path. If you could find the woman in image 12 in that state of “ascending” somewhere along the path, that might work. Chicago & Cleveland solves have the verse describing something in the image
and
something you would see along the path.
“Fence & Fixture”
“Seek the columns”
Seeing something in an image, relating it to something on the ground, & having it stated in the verse is a viable clue to matching image / verse.

The book specifically tells you to link a verse to an image. Those are the directions.

Really!? I had no idea. Sarcasm noted.
It doesn’t say how to link… That’s why we are having these lovely conversations as to which image goes to which verse… 36 years later.
Lest I should further digress from the topic of this forum…

It could definitely be linked to any sort of flying object without wings. That’s why the second part of my theory (the landmarks in the park) are just some random hints, I’m absolutely not sure about them. Maybe everything is in Chinatown as pointed out by the image.
Still the references to the Granite windswept citadel, the arc light and the “survived the earthquake” really gave me shivers. There’s need of San Francisco locals for a feedback about this!

Delilah, I am only 2 hours from San Francisco. I have been open for sometime on a different verse to match image 1. I’ve been spending most of my time in research trying to match something concrete in the image to something on the ground. I like your idea and will look into it more. Thank you.

I like the idea of finding something concrete. Something of that nature would surely help make any of these verses make sense as they interact with their corresponding pieces.

Yes it does,

Words mean nothing here. Bring facts or stay home.

Yeah. That tells us “exactly” how to link.
The Japanese translation stated that the Japanese readers were given a special hint, which was to:
“Before you go reading the poems, look at the pictures. Then, taking all of the numbers in the poems, you can then put them into different combinations and join them with a picture.”

Wow.  Nice memories you have brought back Slappy.  But try if you like, i just cant put image9 in NY.
All of the visuals for Battery park are in image12.
But I can put both verses, 5 and 10, very nicely in Battery Park, NYC.  Only problem, the damn X.  LOL
I like the deForest thing.  I never put that together.  My favorite is Washington Street and two twenty two.  Whitehall or white stone? to the south?  I have to go back and look at my pictures.
