Description
Designed by Ivan Mestrovic in 1926, cast in Zagreb, shipped to the U.S. in pieces, assembled and dedicated in 1928. The sculptures are 17 feet tall and stand on pedestals designed by Holabird & Roche. They appear at an entrance to Grant Park at Congress Plaza. Mestrovic, a native of Croatia, wanted these sculptures to be a representation of Native Americans, their struggle, and their ability to persevere.
